My story is a simple one. When my friends began having
children I started to hand paint tables, wall shelves, name
plaques and frames for shower gifts. My hand painted gifts
always seemed to receive such positive response along
with strong encouragement to make them available to the
gift market. Eventually, after several years of giving, all that
positive response and encouragement finally sunk in and
Jodilynn Designs was born.
As far back as I can remember I had a passion for making
things and creating art. I have very fond memories of
spending my childhood summer days on Long Island
painting rocks and sculpting homemade playdough at
Joycie's (aka Grandma's) house. From grade school on
through high school I studied and created all kinds of art
from fingerpainted masterpieces to painted sceneries, one
of which, believe it or not, can still be found hanging in the
Northport LIRR train station! But as much as I loved art, I
decided to take the business route at college earning a
degree in Marketing from Providence College. I went on from
there to build a career in marketing and advertising and over
time landed smack dab in the middle of the hospitality
industry managing marketing and advertising initiatives for
the world's largest hotel chain. Marketing was a wonderful
career fit for me offering that perfect balance of business
application and creative thinking, not to mention a pretty
casual work environment that afforded me the freedom to
throw in a few of my dance moves from time to time just for
good measure! What can I say? Sometimes you just gotta
dance it out, kick it out or stretch it out.....whatever moves you.
But creating art was always apart of my soul and the one
place I felt truly whole and at peace. So, with tons of
encouragement and with the support of my friends and
family, I quit my marketing job and officially started Jodilynn
Designs. I now create art every single day and get to share it
with all of you. And for that I am so incredibly thankful.
There you have it, my simple and somewhat boring story
and I'm sticking to it!
